Beavers Finish Season Ranked Sixth

SEASON WRAP-UP
Oregon State (22-9) finished the 2019 with a sixth place finish at NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas. The Beavers' finish marks the highest finish during the Tanya Chaplin era and the best end to a season since earning fifth in 1995 and 1996.
RETURNING FOR 2019
The Beavers are slated to return 16 letterwinners in 2019 including 19 out of the 24 routines that were performed at NCAA Championships.
• OSU's only gymnast to perform in the all-around in 2019 was Kaitlyn Yanish, who was in all four lineups in just the first three meets of the season registering a career-best 39.250.
• Four All-Americans return to next year's roster - Halli Briscoe (bars), Maela Lazaro (beam), Isis Lowery (floor) and Kaitlyn Yanish, who has been a Regular Season All-American on the floor twice.
• All three of the Beavers All-Pac-12 team members will also be returners - Madi Dagen on the beam, Isis Lowery and Kaitlyn Yanish on the floor.
• In addition, to the 11 returners that performed at NCAA Championships the Beavers also have Destinee Davis and Lexie Gonzales, both of whom competed at NCAA Regionals, as well as Niya Mack and Alyssa Minyard returning from injuries.
QUICKLY
• The Beavers concluded the season ranked No. 6 in the nation. See page 3 for complete rankings.
• All four of OSU's lineups finished the season ranked among the top 20 in the country. The floor exercise lineup was the highest ranked for the Beavers at No. 10 (49.370 national qualifying score), while the vault (49.140) ranked No. 15, balance beam (49.160) was No. 16, and the uneven bars lineup tied for 20th (49.145).
• Oregon State 'hit' 313 out of 336 (93.2%) routines in 2019 ... in comparison, the Beavers 'hit' 274 out of 288 (95.1%) routines in 2018.
• The Beavers hit 24-for-24 only twice in 2019 - against California, Feb. 17 and in the Regional Finals, April 6.
• OSU counted three falls in 2019 - against Utah (beam), against Alaska and Bowling Green (beam), and at Pac-12 Championships (beam).
• The Beavers' routine production breakdown looked like this: Juniors performed 126 of 336 routines in 2019 (37.5%), seniors produced 100 of 336 (29.8%), sophomores 72 of 336 (21.4%) and freshmen 38 of 336 (11.3%).
• OSU scored 197.450 against UCLA, tying the sixth-highest score in school history.
• Oregon State finished the season with five gymnasts that 'hit' all of their routines in 2019 including: Mary Jacobsen (41-41), Colette Yamaoka (13-13), Destinee Davis (7-7), Niya Mack (2-2) and Kristina Peterson (1-1).
• The Beavers returned 22 out of 24 routines from the 2018 NCAA Regionals lineup this season. However, only 13 of those routines remained in the lineup at NCAA Championships this spring.
• Seventeen OSU gymnasts have earned a 3.0 GPA or better during each term this year (fall and winter) - 12 of those were 3.5 or above including three 4.0s during winter term. The Beavers represent seven different colleges among their majors and two study in the Honors College.
ALL-AMERICANS
Mary Jacobsen (vault), Halli Briscoe (bars), Maela Lazaro (beam) and Isis Lowery (floor) each earned All-America Second Team honors at NCAA Championships in April. In addition, Kaitlyn Yanish earned WCGA Regular Season Second Team All-American on the floor exercise for the second straight season.
ALL-PAC-12 TEAM
Three Oregon State gymnasts were part of the Pac-12's All-Conference teams when the awards were announced last month. Kaitlyn Yanish was recognized as a first teamer on the floor exercise. In addition, Madi Dagen garnered second team honors on the balance beam and Isis Lowery was named as a second teamer on the floor.
ALL-ACADEMIC HONORS
Oregon State placed 10 gymnasts on the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, the most in the conference. In all, 17 of 21 OSU gymnasts posted GPA's of 3.0 or better during the winter for the second term in a row. Mariana Colussi-Pelaez (microbiology) and Lacy Dagen (sociology) were all named to the first team. Savanna Force (kinesiology), Mary Jacobsen (computer science) and McKenna Singley (sociology) each received second team honors while Halli Briscoe (business adminstration), Lena Greene (bioengineering), Maela Lazaro (BioHealth sciences), Isis Lowery (digital communication arts) and Colette Yamaoka (biology) were honorable mention.
INCREDIBLE SENIORS
• The trio of Mariana Colussi-Pelaez, Mary Jacobsen and McKenna Singley has combined to hit 75 out of 79 routines thus far in 2019.
• Mariana Colussi-Pelaez, a microbiology major with an option in pre-med and minors in chemistry and Spanish, learned she has been accepted to medical school at University College Cork in Ireland.
• Mary Jacobsen, who studies computer science, has landed a job with Google upon graduation later this spring.
• McKenna Singley, who is majoring in sociology with an option in crime and justice, has recently been accepted to the University of Utah's S.J. Quinney College of Law.
CONFERENCE OF CHAMPIONS
In the preseason coaches poll, the Pac-12 Conference had all eight of its teams ranked in the Top 36 and all eight qualified to NCAA Regionals. Three of those teams advanced to NCAA Championships - the most of qualifiers of any conference - including No. 2 UCLA, No. 6 Utah and No. 15 Oregon State.
LOADING UP FOR 2020
In November, three gymnasts signed the National Letters of Intent to join the Oregon State gymnastics program for the 2019-20 academic year. Kayla Bird (Chandler, Ariz.), Jenna Domingo (Honolulu, Hawai'i)Â and Jane Poniewaz (Henderson, Nev.) are scheduled to enroll at Oregon State this coming summer ... In addition, 2018 signee Jade Carey (Phoenix, Ariz.), who deferred her enrollment this year to train for the U.S. National Team, plans to attend OSU in the future. Carey earned a pair of silver medals for Team USA at the 2017 World Championships.
