
McNairy, Corbitt Still in the Hunt at Jim Click Multi-Events

TUCSON – Oregon State University track and field's Claire Corbitt and Saskia McNairy are both in the hunt for the title in their respective groups of the women's heptathlon at the 2019 Jim Click Multi-Events in Tucson, Ariz.
Currently, McNairy has accumulated 3,068 points through four events in sixth place in the Group A; Nicole Oudenaarden, Club UCAC, leads the top group with 3, 586 points. Meanwhile, Corbitt currently maintains fifth place with a total of 2, 784 points in Group B; Air Force's Shelly Spires leads the second group with 3, 246 points.
McNairy started the day with in the 100-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 14.69-seconds, finishing in ninth place overall and third in her flight. The senior placed outside of the top 10 in both the high jump (12th, 5-1.75), and shot put (13th, 34-1.25).
Another season-best time in the 200 meters proved timely as McNairy finished in third place in the event crossing the finish line in 24.55-seconds. She jumped up the leaderboard into sixth place where she currently sits with 3, 068 points.
Corbitt, competing in Group B, recorded two top-five finishes in the four events today earning herself the No. 5 spot on the leaderboard after the first day with 2,784 points. The sophomore opened the day with a fourth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.90-seconds, just over a half of a second behind first.
Her lowest finish of the day came in the high jump, where she placed ninth with a highest clear of 4-feet, 11.75-inches on her second attempt. Corbitt rebounded in the shot put with her best throw of the year, 30-feet, 9.25 inches earning her sixth place. The final event of the day proved to be the Portland native's best as she finished in third place in the 200 meters at 26.01-seconds.
