
Slocum, Pivec Tabbed as All-America Finalists

WBCA honors pair of Beavers as regional finalists
CORVALLIS – Oregon State standouts Destiny Slocum and Mikayla Pivec have both been named WBCA Region Five All-America Finalists, the Women's Basketball Coaches of America announced Thursday.

The 2019 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America team will be announced Thursday, April 4, during the WBCA Convention at Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Slocum, who is one of five finalists for the Lieberman National Point Guard of the Year Award, leads the Beavers with an average of 16.0 points per game this season. She is shooting 46.6 percent from the field, has 144 assists on the campaign, and earned All-Pac12 honors two weeks ago. Slocum has been named to the watch lists for the Wooden Award and the Naismith Trophy.

The digital communication arts major is the sixth player in Oregon State history with multiple point-assist double doubles, and has scored 20 points 12 times this season. Slocum was also selected as a Pac-12 Academic Second Team honoree this season.

Pivec, also an All-Pac-12 selection, is averaging 14.9 points and 9.1 rebounds on the year. She is shooting 54.4 percent from the floor, the second-best percentage in the Pac-12 and the fifth-best percentage by a guard in the nation. A junior biohealth science major, Pivec is currently 18th in program history with 1,111 career points and 10th in career rebounds with 702.

The guard from Lynnwood, Wash. has three double-doubles in her last four games, and is averaging 19.2 points and 10.2 rebounds over her last five contests. Pivec has earned back-to-back Pac-12 Academic First Team honors, and earned CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team honors this season.

As a team, the Beavers are 24-7 on the season, and will make their sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance on Saturday, when they host Boise State in the event's opening round. For more information on the game, click here.
