February 12, 2019 | Softball
Corvallis, Ore. – Oregon State sophomore Missy Nunes was named the Pac-12 Softball Player of the Week following a huge opening weekend at the plate for the Beavers.
Nunes recorded a homerun in the first three games of the weekend. The first came early against CSUN as she sent one over the right side for a two-run homerun.
Later that same day, the sophomore hit a solo-homerun over the left field fence to help the Beavers capture a 4-3 win over Weber State.
Nunes' last homerun came on Saturday morning as she sent a three-run homerun over the left-center wall that would give Oregon State the lead and eventually be the winning runs against Seattle.
Overall, Nunes batted .467 for the weekend going 7-for-15. The sophomore scored five runs, hit 10 RBIs and had a fielding percentage of 1.000 with five assists and five putouts.
The honor is Nunes' second weekly Pac-12 honor, as she won Pac-12 Freshman of the Week last season on April 16. Nunes was also named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team last season.
Oregon State will travel to Long Beach and Los Angeles this coming weekend the Stacy Winsberg Tournament hosted by UCLA and Long Beach State.
