Beavers Drop Nonconference Schedule Finale to Seattle
May 01, 2018 | Softball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Alysha Everett hit her 9th double of the season, but the Oregon State softball team fell to Seattle University 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon at the OSU Softball Stadium.
Everett opened the hitting for the Beavers with her double to left field in the bottom of the first inning. Katy McJunkin, Missy Nunes, Camryn Ybarra and Kayleen Shafer tallied one hit each, while McKenna Arriola reached twice on base on balls.
Seattle opened the scoring on the top of the first inning behind an unearned run thanks to an Oregon State error.
Oregon State threatened in the second inning behind back to back singles from Nunes and Ybarra. Both runners advanced and sat at second and third base with just one out, but the Beavers could not capitalize.
The Redhawks added to their lead in the third inning following another Oregon State error. Mariah Mazon pitched a complete game in the loss giving up two runs both unearned.
The Beavers got a run back in the fifth, as Everett hit a bases loaded fielder's choice RBI scoring Stephanie Merwin. OSU finished the inning with two runners left on base, and stranded one more in the sixth and seventh innings.
