Beavers Set to Take on Three Ranked Teams
April 12, 2018 | Men's Rowing
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's rowing team travels to the Bay Area to race at the Stanford Invitational Saturday and Sunday. The Beavers will take on No. 1 California, No. 10 Wisconsin and No. 18 Georgetown in head-to-head duals at Redwood Shores, Calif.
"This weekend's racing is always the most intense of the season," head coach Gabe Winkler said. "Three duals against three fast teams in 24 hours is fun but you have to have your wits about you to perform, then regroup for the next showdown. The guys are prepared and we're excited to race."
Three crews – Varsity 8, Junior Varsity 8 and Third Varsity 8 – will make the trip with each crew racing three times. The Beavers' 3V8 will take on a crew from Santa Clara Saturday afternoon, rather than Georgetown which will only have two eight-man crews on hand.
RACE TIMES: Saturday, the Junior Varsity 8 will get racing started for the Beavers against California at 9:10 a.m. The Beavers will be back on the course to face Georgetown in the V8 and JV8 beginning at 3:20 p.m. and the Third Varsity 8 will take on Santa Clara at 4 p.m. On Sunday, OSU takes on Wisconsin beginning at 9:40 a.m.
