Beavers Fall in Series Finale at No. 4/4 UCLA

LOS ANGELES – Camryn Ybarra logged her first career home run, but the No. 24 Oregon State softball team fell 7-5 to No. 4/4 UCLA on Monday afternoon inside Easton Stadium.
The Beavers fall to 19-13 overall on the season, and 2-4 in Pac-12 play. Meanwhile, UCLA improves to 28-2 overall and 4-2 in conference action.
OSU fell behind right from the get go as UCLA put two runs on the board in the first inning, and added five more in the subsequent inning. The Bruins led 7-0 after just two innings.
The Beavers began to claw their way back in the third inning. Jessica Garcia drove in the first run for OSU with an RBI single up the middle scoring Sara Lillie from second. Two at bats later Alysha Everett drove in her first of three RBI of the game pulling the score to 7-2.
Ybarra cut the deficit to four runs in the fourth inning. The freshman tallied her first career homerun with a shot over the right field wall.
Trailing 7-3 and down to the final three outs the Beavers got two runs home thanks to a two RBI single from Everett scoring Garcia and Michelle Sass. OSU could manage no more leaving runners on first and second.
Everett finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBI. Mariah Mazon got the start on the mound falling to 8-8 this season. She recorded three strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched.
