No. 4 Bruins Edge No. 24 Beavers

LOS ANGELES – The No. 24/RV Oregon State University softball team was bested late in the series opener against No. 4/4 UCLA (26-2, 2-2 Pac-12) at Easton Stadium on Saturday night.
The Beavers fall to 19-11 overall and 2-2 in the Pac-12.
Scoreless through three and a half innings, UCLA drew blood first in the bottom of the fourth with two unearned runs off a single and double in consecutive at bats.
Oregon State got a clutch at bat from Michelle Sass in the fifth inning. Â Missy Nunes reached on a fielding error and in the next at bat, with Merwin pinch running, Sass hit a deep towering shot over the centerfield wall tying the game 2-2. It was Sass' second home run of the year and the second in four games.
The game went all the way to the seventh still tied and in the bottom half of the inning the Bruins got a walk-off homerun ending the game.
Sass finished the game 1-for-3 a run scored. Mariah Mazon was credited with the loss after entering in relief for Nerissa Eason in the third inning. Mazon went 4.2 innings with four strikeouts and one earned run.
