The Game —
- Oregon State makes the first of two consecutive road trips when the Beavers visit Stanford Saturday night. Kickoff at Stanford Stadium is slated for 6:10 p.m. PT.
- The game is slated to air on the Pac-12 Networks.
- Every game this season can be heard live via the TuneIn application, which is available online and on smartphones and tablets. To find the game, once the app has been downloaded, search "Beaver Sports Network."
- The Cardinal hold a 56-25-3 advantage in the all-time series, including a 29-10-2 record in California. The Beavers last won at Stanford in 2006, 30-7.
- Stanford has an eight-game win streak after a 15-14 victory last season at Reser Stadium. OSU held a 14-9 lead entering the fourth quarter, but a Stanford 3-yard touchdown pass with 20 seconds remaining in the game sent the Cardinal to the 1-point win. The teams combined for just 486 yards of total offense.
- Head coach Jonathan Smith was 3-1 versus Stanford as a quarterback at Oregon State. That included a 38-6 victory in 2000, which at the time was OSU's largest win in the series. That was bested by the Beavers' 43-3 win in 2003.
- Jake Luton threw for 301 yards in Saturday's game versus USC. It is the 86th 300-yard game in Oregon State history. He is the first Oregon State quarterback to throw for 300 or more in consecutive games since Sean Mannion in 2014 versus California (320 yards on Nov. 1) and Washington State (419 on Nov. 8).
- Luton threw for 220 yards in the first half versus USC. Coupled with the 288 he had in the second half against Colorado, the senior threw for 508 over what would be normally a full game (not including 22 yards he threw for in OT versus the Buffaloes). He was 56-for-80 combined over the two halves. Had those numbers come over a full game, the 508 yards would have surpassed Sean Mannion's record of 493 versus Washington State in 2013. Mannion also holds the Oregon State single-game records with 41 completions versus Stanford in 2013 and attempts (66 vs. ASU in 2011).
- Jack Colletto's last four touches have resulted in three touchdowns rushing and a first down.
Versus The Cardinal —
- Last season's 1-point margin was the seventh time a game had been decided by 10 points or less since 2000, a stretch of 17 games.
Head coach Jonathan Smith passed for 405 yards and two touchdowns versus Stanford in 1999. It marked his second of two career 400-yard games (469 versus UW in 1998 was his first).
- Smith's 97-yard pass to Chad Johnson in a 38-6 win over Stanford in 2000 is the longest pass play in school history. Smith also completed a 76-yard pass to T.J. Houshmandzadeh in that game.
- Only twice have the Beavers tallied two 75-yard or longer pass plays in the same game. The 2000 game versus Stanford is the second. Smith found Roddy Tompkins (90 yards) and Greg Ainsworth (80 yards) for long completions in 1998 versus Washington.
- Steven Jackson ran for what was then the fifth-best mark in school history in 2002 versus Stanford, gaining 230 yards rushing. It has since been pushed to seventh due to 238 and 254 yard, respectively, rushing efforts by freshman Jermar Jefferson this year.
- A year later, Oregon State gained 663 yards against the Cardinal, the fourth-largest single-game tally in school history. It's also the most in a conference game.
- Steve Brown's 22 tackles versus Stanford in 1972 set an Oregon State single-game record. That record was tied by Andre Harris versus Colorado in 1988.
- Kieron Walford kicked a 55-yard field goal in 1976 versus Stanford, setting a record that has since been bettered at 58 yards by Chris Mangold (1982 versus San Jose State) and Alexis Serna (2006 against California).
- On Oct. 10, 1998 OSU won at Stanford 30-23, ending a 14-game then Pac-10 road losing streak. Current Beaver head coach Jonathan Smith did not play in that game, but was listed on the travel roster.
- OSU has held Stanford to negative rushing yardage in a game twice: negative 12 yards in 2003 and negative 8 in 2007. The Beavers also limited the Cardinal to 1 yard in 2004.
- Oregon State Chief of Staff/Director of Football Operations Dan Van De Riet was a student equipment manager at Stanford in 2000.
Back-To-Back —
- Sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins has back-to-back 100-yard receiving games after recording 129 against USC, a week after finishing with 146 at Colorado.
- He is the first Oregon State player with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games since Victor Bolden Jr., in 2016 versus Washington State (113 yards) and Stanford (109).
- Hodgins has three 100-yard games this season; he totaled a career-best 200 versus Nevada in week three of this season. Bolden also happened to be the last Beaver with that accomplishment, doing so in 2014.
- Hodgins has played in 19 career games and has at least one catch in every single contest.
- The Oakley, Calif., native heads into the matchup versus Stanford with 76 career catches for 936 yards. He needs 64 receiving yards to become the 32nd player in school history with 1,000 or more for a career, and would join teammate Timmy Hernandez on that list.
- Hodgins tied the Oregon State single-game record with 14 receptions earlier this season versus Nevada. Hodgins finished with 200 yards against the Wolf Pack, the 10th-most ever by an Oregon State player.
Speaking Of Receivers —
- Oregon State's Isaiah Hodgins (twice), Timmy Hernandez and Trevon Bradord have combined for four 10-reception or more games this year. Hodgins tied the OSU single-game record with 14 Nevada, while Hernandez had 11 in the same game. Hodgins then finished with 11 at Colorado before Bradford caught 10 against USC.
- There have now been 53 10-reception or more efforts in OSU history.
- There have only been four seasons in school history with three 11-catch efforts: 2013 (all by Brandin Cooks), 2005 (all by Mike Hass) and 2004 (two by Mike Hass and one by Anthony Brown), and now 2018.
- Over the last two games, OSU has gained 37 first downs via the pass and just 10 on the ground.
Michalczik's 18 —
- Players have now rushed for 1,000 or more yards a total of 18 times during Jim Michalczik's tenure as an offensive line coach at Montana State (1992-98), Oregon State (1999-2001, 2018), California (2002-08, 2011-12), the Oakland Raiders (2009-10) and Arizona (2013-17).
Schedule Down The Road —
- Oregon State closes out its 2018 regular season schedule with three games against opponents who all have records of .500 or better.
OSU's last three opponents have a .643 winning percentage this year, going 18-10.
- Oregon State's past and future opponents have combined for a 58-43 record this year, a .574 winning percentage.
A True Freshmen "Quizz" —
- Running back Jermar Jefferson has posted five 100-yard plus rushing games already this season, which ranks second among all-time OSU greats for true freshmen in a season.
- Jacquizz Rodgers had seven such games during the 2008 season. He holds the single-season record for true freshman at OSU with 1,253 yards on the ground that year.
More On Jefferson —
- Jermar Jefferson has 1,092 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns this year.
- He is the eighth player in Oregon State history to record a 1,000-yard season and it's the 16th time an OSU player has hit 1,000 or more yards. The last to do so prior to Jefferson was Jacquizz Rodgers with 1,184 yards in 2010.
- Jefferson is on pace for 1,456 yards this season, which would rank fifth in a season at Oregon State.
- By hitting 1,000 yards, Jefferson is also the 35th player in school history to reach that mark for a career. He joins teammate Artavis Pierce, who reached 1,000 earlier this season.
- The Harbor City, Calif., native has two four-touchdown games this season, joining Ken Simonton as the only Oregon State running backs to accomplish the feat twice. Jefferson is the only player to do it twice in the same season; Simonton's came once in 1998 and once in 1999.
- He was recently named as a candidate for the Doak Walker Award and is one of just two freshmen nationally on the list.
On Turnovers —
- Much has been made about OSU's lack of creating turnovers, but little has been said about OSU taking care of the ball.
- The Beavers have just 11 turnovers, tied for the third-fewest in the Pac-12. Over the last two games, OSU has turned the ball over once, an interception where a pass went through a receiver's hands and ultimately led to a "pick 6" by Colorado.
- The total is far different than last year's 28 lost turnovers.
Luton For 310 —
- Jake Luton was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week after passing for 310 yards and three touchdowns against Colorado - all coming in the second half and overtime. The 310 yards marked a career-high for the senior and were the second time he'd hit the 300-yard mark. The first came in his OSU debut, the 2017 season opener at Colorado State when he finished with 304.
- Luton threw for 301 yards against USC last week. It's the 86th time in school history a QB has thrown for 300 or more. Sixty-seven of those games have come this century.
- He has thrown one interception in his last 203 pass attempts.
