Beavers Fall to USC

The Beavers (2-7, 1-5 Pac-12) lost to the Trojans (5-4, 4-3 Pac-12) by a final score of 38-21 in the 75th all-time meeting between the two schools.
Luton completed 31-of-45 pass attempts for 301 passing yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins caught eight passes for 129 yards. Trevon Bradford recorded a career-high 10 receptions for 63 yards.
Linebacker Hamilcar Rashed Jr. led the Beavers with a career-high nine total tackles, while Shemar Smith added eight tackles for OSU.
After falling behind 21-0 in the first half, the Beavers broke the shutout late in the second quarter. OSU strung together an eight-play 45-yard drive that began at the opposing 45 yard line completing two third down conversions on the way to the endzone. Quarterback Jack Colletto capped the drive with a six-yard scamper and a 21-7 score line in favor of the visitors.
The Beavers defense came up with a stop on the next possession giving the offense another chance with 1:11 left on the game clock in the first half. Luton led the Beavers on an eight-play, 85-yard drive in which he completed 7-of-8 passing attempts. Noah Togiai caught his second touchdown reception of the year, an 11-yard pass, pulling the Beavers within 21-14 at the half.
USC received the ball out of halftime, and drove down the field for a touchdown and a 28-14 lead.
The Beavers responded on their first offensive drive of the second half with a touchdown of their own. OSU strung together an 11-play 75-yard drive that chewed up 4:19 off the game clock. Artavis Pierce finished the drive with a six-yard rushing touchdown bringing the deficit to 28-21.
USC scored the final 10 points of the game winning 38-21.
