The Game —
- Oregon State visits Colorado Saturday afternoon in Boulder, Colo. Kickoff at Folsom Field is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. PT, or 1:10 p.m. in Colorado, which is in the Mountain Time Zone.
- The game is slated to air on the Pac-12 Networks.
- Every game this season can be heard live via the TuneIn application, which is available online and on smartphones and tablets. To find the game, once the app has been downloaded, search "Beaver Sports Network."
- The all-time series between the teams is tied at five games apiece, with the Buffaloes holding a 3-2 advantage in games played in Boulder. Colorado has won the last three games regardless of location after a late scoring drive subdued the Beavers, 36-33, last season at Reser Stadium.
- The Beavers' last win in the series came in 2014, 36-31. That win was also the Beavers' last victory away from Reser Stadium.
- OSU is 2-3 versus Colorado since the Buffaloes joined the Pac-12 Conference.
- Offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren served as the OC and quarterbacks coach at Colorado from 2013-17. He was a finalist for the Quarterbacks Coach of the Year by FootballScoop.com in 2013.
- Colorado quaterbacks Sefo Liufau and Steven Montez combined to set 110 school records during Lindgren's tenure.
- Lindgren was also the OC and QB coach at San Jose State in 2012 under current Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre. The Spartans went 11-2 that season.
- Running backs coach Michael Pitre was a graduate assistant coach at Colorado in 2012 and 2013.
- Oregon State's leading tackler, safety Jalen Moore, was born in Denver and rated as the third-best safety in the state by Scout before moving to California.
Â
Versus The Buffaloes —
- Quarterback Sean Mannion threw for a school-record six touchdowns and 414 yards - the 11th-best mark in school history - in a 44-17 win over Colorado in 2013. That was the first meeting between the teams since the Buffaloes joined the Pac-12 and the first overall since 1988.
- A season later, Mannion threw for just 278 yards but Terron Ward rushed for 102 yards in Boulder for the five-point win. The Beavers held off a late Colorado rally, stalling the Buffaloes' attempt at a game-winning drive on 4th and 6 from the OSU 40 when a pass went incomplete with 26 seconds left.
- Colorado scored with 1:34 left last season to win by three. OSU's Ryan Nall tallied his third-best rushing total in the loss, finishing with 172 yards and three touchdowns.
- Andre Harris tied the Oregon State single-game record with 22 tackles at Colorado in 1988. He equaled Steve Brown's 22 versus Stanford in 1972. Harris is the only OSU player to finish with 18 or more tackles in a game more than once. He also had 20 against Oregon in 1987 and 19 versus USC in 1987. Current linebackers coach Trent Bray is one of nine players in school history with 18 or more, posting 19 versus Boise State in 2004.
- Current OSU head coach Jonathan Smith and offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren squared off twice while at Washington and Colorado, respectively. Smith's Huskies were winners both times, 38-23 in 2014 and 37-10 in 2017.
Record-Breaking Anniversary —
- On Wednesday, three days before the game with the Buffaloes, it will be 20 years since head coach and former quarterback Jonathan Smith passed for what was then a record 469 yards in a 1-point loss to Washington in Seattle. He did not start the game but made every start during his career from then on.
- Smith completed 17-of-32 passes and tallied three touchdown passes versus the Huskies.
- Smith surpassed Erik Wilhlem, who held the record with 461 yards versus Akron in 1987.
- The record has since been broken twice: Derek Anderson with 485 yards versus USC in 2003, then Sean Mannion with 493 in 2013 against Washington State.
- It was the first of two 400-plus yard passing games for Smith; he is one of just six Oregon State players to throw for at least one. He also finished with 405 yards versus Stanford in 1999.
Schedule Down The Road —
- Oregon State closes out its 2018 regular season schedule with five games against opponents who all have winning records.
- Three of Oregon State's remaining opponents are ranked in at least one poll. They include: Washington (13th by coaches, 15th by AP), Oregon (19th by AP, 21st by coaches), and Stanford (23rd by coaches, 24th by AP). Colorado, meanwhile, is receiving votes in the coaches rankings.
- The Beavers have the 14th-toughest schedule the rest of the way by winning percentage; second among Pac-12 teams. OSU's last five opponents have a .694 winning percentage this year, going 25-11. The 25 wins is tied for 11th.
- Oregon State's past and future opponents have combined for a 47-34 record this year, a .580 winning percentage.
A True Freshmen "Quizz" —
- Running back Jermar Jefferson has posted four 100-yard plus rushing games already this season, which ranks second among all-time OSU greats for true freshmen in a season.
- Jacquizz Rodgers had seven such games during the 2008 season. He holds the single-season record for true freshman at OSU with 1,253 yards on the ground that year.
- Jefferson has 899 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns this year. Rodgers, meanwhile, had 812 yards and nine touchdowns in his first six games in 2008.
Â
More On Jefferson —
- Jermar Jefferson's 899 yards rushing puts him squarely on target for 1,000 yards - and more - on the ground this season. He is aiming to become just the eighth different player to hit the century mark at OSU in a single season.
- Seven players have done it a total of 15 times entering the 2018 season. The last to do so was Jacquizz Rodgers with 1,184 yards in 2010.
Jefferson is on pace for 1,541 yards this season, which would rank fourth in a season at Oregon State.
- Reaching 1,000 yards would also make Jefferson the 35th player in OSU history with 1,000 or more for a career, joining teammate Artavis Pierce, who hit the milestone earlier this year.
- The Harbor City, Calif., native has two four-touchdown games this season, joining Ken Simonton as the only Oregon State running backs to accomplish the feat twice. Jefferson is the only player to do it twice in the same season; Simonton's came once in 1998 and once in 1999.
- He was recently named as a candidate for the Doak Walker Award and is one of just two freshman nationally on the list.
