BOULDER, Colo. – Running back Jermar Jefferson and wide receiver Timmy Hernandez both eclipsed 1,000-yard marks as Oregon State picked up the first Pac-12 Conference win in the head coach Jonathan Smith era against Colorado on Saturday afternoon.

The Beavers (2-6, 1-4 Pac-12) defeated the Buffalos (5-3, 2-3 Pac-12) in overtime by a final score of 41-34.

Hernandez became the 31^st Beaver to reach 1,000 career yards receiving, now sitting at 1,056 career yards. Jefferson is the eighth Beaver to gain 1,000 yards in a season. He finished the game with 135 yards, his fourth 100-yard plus game of the year.

Quarterback Jake Luton played only the second half and overtime completing 28-of-39 pass attempts for 310 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins racked up 11 receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

It was a tale of two halves as the Beavers found themselves in a 24-3 deficit at the end of the first half.

Oregon State opted for a quarterback change starting the second half with Luton behind center who led the Beavers on a 17-play 75-yard drive on their first offensive possession of the half, chewing up 6:31 off the game clock.

After converting two fourth downs on the drive, Luton connected with Hodgins for an eight-yard strike and the first touchdown of the game for Oregon State. The Beavers trailed 31-10 at the end of the third quarter.

It was all OSU in the fourth quarter as it opened with a Jack Colletto two-yard rushing touchdown capping off a nine-play 71-yard drive. The Beavers defense played well all second half giving the offense a chance to bring the game back.

Oregon State was once again on the move inside of the 10-minute mark of the fourth quarter when a 39-yard drive stalled out resulting in a made 35-yard field goal from Jordan Choukair. The Beavers now trailed 31-20.

With the ball in their hands once again the Beavers put together a long drive ending in yet another OSU touchdown. Luton was a perfect 5-for-5 through the air ending the drive with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Hodgins. Oregon State trailed by just one possession after a successful two-point conversion, 31-28.

Colorado drove down the field on its next offensive possession, but the Oregon State defense came up with a big third down stop forcing a field goal from the Buffalos.

Trailing 34-28 with just 2:05 left on the game clock the Beavers offense kept clicking. Luton completed passes to four different receivers on a nine-play 75-yard drive, including the most important on fourth down to Trevon Bradford for the game-tying touchdown. Choukair missed the point after attempt and the game went to overtime.

It was all OSU in the overtime period as the Beavers used 15 plays before crossing the goal line, once again opting for Colletto to put the ball in the endzone. The defense held strong after the Buffalos reached first and goal on the Oregon State seven yard line winning the game, 41-34.
