The Game —
- Oregon State hosts Washington State Saturday night at Reser Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. PT.
- The game is slated to air on the Pac-12 Networks.
- Every game this season can be heard live via the TuneIn application, which is available online and on smartphones and tablets. To find the game, once the app has been downloaded, search "Beaver Sports Network."
- Oregon State and Washington State are meeting for the 103rd time, the second-most for the Beavers against one opponent. That trails only OSU's 121 meetings with Civil War rival Oregon.
- Washington State holds a slim advantage in the all-time series, 52-47-3. The teams are tied in games played in Corvallis at 23 games apiece.
- Washington State has won the past four games after a stretch that saw the Beavers win 8-of-10. That included a 2008 victory, at 66-13, the largest win by either team in the series.
- Those 66 points are the most ever scored against a conference opponent for OSU. And that game is one of three times the Beavers have scored 60 or more this century; 62 versus California in 2012 and 61 against Idaho State in 2007 were the others.
- Secondary coach Greg Burns was an academic counselor at Washington State from 1993-96. He graduated from WSU in 1995 with a bachelors in psychology. He then earned his master's there in 1997, also in psychology. Burns was a three-year starter at WSU as a defensive back
- Associate Head Coach Jim Michalczik was a three-year letterman offensive guard at WSU earning honorable mention All-America honors.
- David Lose, quality control for defense at OSU, served as a defensive assistant at WSU from 2009-10.
- Ryan Saparto, QC for special teams, played at WSU from 2011-13.
Versus The Cougars —
- Sean Mannion's school-record 493 passing yards came in the 2013 matchup with Washington State, a 52-24 Oregon State win in Pullman. That performance started a two-game stretch that saw Mannion pass for a combined 974 yards on 69 completions versus the Cougars and California. At the time, it was the most passing yards in back-to-back games in conference history.
- Oregon State totaled 598 yards against WSU in 2013, the fifth-highest total in a conference game.
- Mannion also passed for 419 yards against WSU in 2014 and 376 yards in 2011.
- All told, Oregon State quarterbacks have surpassed 300 passing yards versus Washington State a total of five times.
Oregon State scored at least 40 points in six of its eight wins between 2004 and 2013. The Beavers limited the Cougars to 20 points or less in five of the wins.
- Steve Coury is tied for the OSU single-game record for touchdowns in a half with three versus Washington State in 1979.
- Head coach Jonathan Smith was 2-1 against the Cougars during his years as a letterwinner at OSU, winning in 1999 and 2000. The teams did not play in 1998.
254 For 22 —
- Jermar Jefferson's 254 rushing yards versus Arizona State surpassed Steven Jackson's 239 versus California on Oct. 26, 2002 as the second-most in a single game by an Oregon State player.
- It is the third-most rushing yards by an FBS player in 2018. He now has two of the top six coupled with his 238 yards versus Southern Utah.
- Jefferson now holds two of the top four rushing performances in school history after tallying 238 versus Southern Utah earlier this year.
- He joins Jackson and Ken Simonton as the only Oregon State players with two or more 200-plus yard performances in the same season. Jackson had three in 2002 and Simonton two in 2000.
- Jefferson ranks second in the country with 727 total rushing yards behind Memphis' Darrell Henderson, who has 260. He is third - and first in the Pac-12 Conference - with 145.4 yards per game.
Â
A True Freshmen "Quizz" —
- Running back Jermar Jefferson has posted three 100-yard plus rushing games already this season, which ranks tied for second among all-time OSU greats for true freshmen in a season.
- Jacquizz Rodgers had seven such games during the 2008 season and Seth Collins had a trio in 2015.
Jefferson, Part 3 —
- Jermar Jefferson's 727 yards rushing puts him squarely on target for 1,000 yards - and more - on the ground this season. He is aiming to become just the eighth different player to hit the century mark at OSU in a single season.
- Seven players have done it a total of 15 times entering the 2018 season. The last to do so was Jacquizz Rodgers with 1,184 yards in 2010.
- Jefferson is on pace for 1,744 yards this season, which would surpass Steven Jackson's school-record of 1,690 in 2002.
- Reaching 1,000 yards would also make Jefferson the 35th player in OSU history with 1,000 or more for a career, joining teammate Artavis Pierce, who hit the milestone earlier this year.
#DamWorthIt —
- Saturday will be the DamWorthIt game for the 2018 football season.
- The Mental Health Awareness campaign was started by former gymnastics student-athlete Taylor Ricci and current men's soccer player Nathan Braaten in summer of 2017.
- Those attending the game can pick up #DamWorthIt signs at Parker Plaza, Truax and the Terrace. They'll be encouraged to write why they're #DamWorthIt on the sign, and will have an opportunity to hold them up as the stadium camera pans the crowd at the third timeout of the first quarter.
"And It Is Another Beaver First Down" —
- Oregon State is one of just two teams in the league (California) with more first downs rushing (55) than passing (51).
- As expected WSU is notably opposite with 18 rushing, compared to 100 passing. OSU is tied for last in the conference with first downs gained via penalty (6).
Going For 1K —
- Timmy Hernandez has 877 receiving yards for his career after tallying 61 versus ASU and is now 123 shy of becoming the 31st player in school history to reach 1,000.
- Hernandez has 75 catches for his career, averaging almost 12 yards per catch.
Four Down Territory —
- The two best teams in the Pac-12 on fourth down conversions converge on Reser Stadium Saturday.
- Washington State leads the conference with a .800 percentage (12-15), OSU is second at .720 (8-11).
