Hampton, Newberry Named To Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Watch List

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State wide receiver Aeryn Hampton and running back AJ Newberry have been named to the preseason watch list for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, it was announced on Tuesday.

The honor recognizes the top collegiate offensive player with ties to the state of Texas. To be eligible, a player must have played at a Texas-based high school or currently play for a Division I program in the state.

Hampton hails from Daingerfield, Texas, where he was a consensus four-star recruit out of high school. He was the 2022 District 11-3A MVP and went on Alabama for two seasons. He is in his first season with the Beavers.

Newberry, who is also on the watch list for the Doak Walker Award, came to Corvallis after 26 games over three seasons at Vanderbilt. He rushed for 338 yards on 79 attempts, scoring six touchdowns in his career as a Commodore. He hails from Grand Prairie, Texas, and surpassed 2,000 yards of total offense and scored 24 touchdowns as a senior at South Grand Prairie High School.
