Beavers Top No. 7 Ducks in Overtime Thriller

Tudor scores 34 points as Oregon State notches 14th-straight Civil War win
CORVALLIS – The No. 18 Oregon State women's basketball team earned a thrilling overtime victory over No. 7 Oregon Friday evening, taking an 85-79 win at Gill Coliseum.
"I'm grateful to have been a part of something like tonight," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. "This was a great game between a pair of great teams in a fantastic atmosphere. You have to give Oregon a ton of credit for being resilient. We came out and executed really well, but they just kept coming. I really loved the courage that our team took into overtime. I'm proud of everybody on our team."
The Beavers came up with a number of big plays down the stretch, including a four-point play from Katie McWilliams with 12 seconds left in overtime to help seal the victory. Mikayla Pivec also came up with a clutch shot, hitting a 3-pointer with 49 seconds remaining in regulation to put the Beavers ahead.
Sophomore Kat Tudor had a massive game, scoring 34 points on 10-for-14 shooting, including 7-for-10 shooting from 3-point range. Her scoring output was the most from an Oregon State player since Jamie Weisner put up 38 vs. DePaul in the 2016 Sweet 16.
Senior Marie Gulich had a big day, scoring 28 points on 12-for-18 shooting. She added 15 rebounds, five assists and three blocks. McWilliams scored nine points to go along with eight assists, while Pivec tallied eight points, seven assists and five rebounds.
Tudor, McWilliams, Gulich and Pivec all played over 40 minutes in the contest.
The victory is Oregon State's 14th-straight Civil War win, and is the Beavers' highest ranked home victory since OSU topped No. 3 Stanford in 1992.
As a team, the Beavers shot 47.5 percent from the floor, and provided assists on 22 of their 28 made field goals.
The teams traded baskets in the early going, before the Beavers used a 12-2 run to go in front 17-8. Oregon State would finish the first quarter 7-for-7 from 3-point range to end the period up 28-17.
Oregon battled back to start the second frame, cutting the advantage to four 90 seconds into the quarter. Oregon State would answer, returning the lead to double-figures midway through the second. The Beavers would maintain the edge from there, heading to the intermission up 42-36.
Tudor scored 18 points in the opening 20 minutes, hitting all five of her 3-point attempts.
The defenses stepped up in the third quarter, as Oregon State headed into the closing frame up 53-50.
Oregon tied things up at 57 three minutes into the closing frame, before taking the lead 59-58. The teams would trade the advantage on five-straight possessions from there. Oregon State went ahead by three with 12 second to play, but the Ducks leveled the score in the closing moments to force overtime.
The Beavers never trailed in the overtime period, closing out the win on the four-point play from McWilliams.
The second leg of the Civil War will be played Sunday evening in Eugene. The game is slated to tip off at 5 p.m. and will be carried live on Pac-12 Networks.
