Corosdale Finds Perfect Fit at Oregon State

Freshman forward looks forward to future with Beavers
For incoming freshman Taya Corosdale, her journey to Oregon State has been all about family.
"I think it was the family atmosphere," Corosdale said of why Oregon State was the right place for her. "The way the coaching staff interacts with the team and with their families made it a great fit. Especially being an only child, I think my parents knew this was the right place for me."
Corosdale joins the Beavers from Bothell, Wash., where she starred at Bothell High School. The 6-foot-3 forward was ranked the No. 27 player in the nation by ESPN (eighth among forwards), and received a five-star grade.
Corosdale says she models her game after her favorite player, Kevin Durant. Her versatility at the forward position helped her earn King County League MVP twice, and landed her an invitation to the prestigious Jordan Brand Classic.
"I like to think that I am a smooth player," Corosdale said. "I feel like I'm versatile – I can shoot, I can post up when I need to, and I work really hard."
With summer in full swing, the freshman has already joined other Oregon State student-athletes in the University's BEST program, where she is rooming with fellow freshman basketball player Aleah Goodman. The two have enjoyed spending extensive time together, including a river-rafting trip and a visit to the Corvallis Farmer's Market – both with the BEST program.
"We were friends before we even got here," Corosdale said of Goodman. "Coming to games last year, it was good to meet Aleah, meet her family and get to know her. The bond just gets stronger every day, and it's really made this place feel like home."
It's a relationship that both expect to continue growing over the next four years, and beyond, as they continue to work together both on and off the floor.
"I'm lucky to have her as a roommate, because she is one of the best people to spend time with," Goodman said of Corosdale. "She's really funny. We both like to dance, and just hang out. Basketball-wise, she can hit the three, and has some great post moves. I look forward to our time together, because I think we're going to have a lot of great chemistry on and off the court."
With the start of her college career just a few months away, Corosdale looks forward to what her time at Oregon State has to offer.
"I'm excited to be a part of Beaver Nation," she said. "I look forward to becoming a better player and a better person. And of course winning basketball games."
