
Beavers Head to Troy Cox Classic for Five Games

THE WEEKEND
• The Beavers will continue their preseason schedule at the Troy Cox Classic in Las Cruces, New Mexico from Feb. 17-19.
• Oregon State will face a five different opponents during the three days, which include DePaul, Northern Colorado, Bradley, New Mexico State and No. 15/14 Tennessee.

SCOUTING THE BLUE DEMONS
• DePaul enters Friday's game 2-3 after starting the season at the Louisiana Tournament last week.
• The Blue Demons fell to Ball State and were swept by Louisiana, but picked up two wins after sweeping Iowa State.
• DePaul is part of the Big East Conference and claimed the regular season title in 2016 after finishing the season 27-25 overall and 16-3 in the Big East.
• The Blue Demons suffered a loss to Butler in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
• DePaul was picked to finish second in the Big East Conference, behind St. John's.
• The Blue Demons return 11 players from the 2016 squad and welcome 10 newcomers.
• Head coach for the Blue Demons is Eugene Lenti in his 36th season.
• The Beavers and Blue Demons will meet for the 13th time as Oregon State holds a 6-5-1 record after the teams last met in 2009.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
• Northern Colorado will enter the weekend 1-4 after starting the season at the Grand Canyon Kickoff Tournament.
• The Bears will face New Mexico State on Thursday night, before playing the Beavers Friday morning.
• Northern Colorado's lone win is a victory against Bradley in its season opener last weekend.
• UNC is part of the Big Sky Conference and finished the 2016 season 9-33 overall and 4-14 in league play.
• The Bears were picked to finish last in the Big Sky in 2017.
• UNC returns 10 players from 2016 and welcomed seven new comers.
• Senior Erica Dick hit a pair of home runs last week and now holds the all-time school record for homers.
• Senior Jayme Reddacliff has thrown the majority of the innings for the Bears and holds a 3.27 ERA and has tallied nine strikeouts.
• Head coach for the Bears is Shana Easley in her fourth season.
• The Beavers and Bears will meet for the fifth time with the series tied at 2-2. The last time the two played each other was in 2007.

SCOUTING THE BRAVES
• Bradley will enter the weekend 1-4 after starting the season at the Grand Canyon Kickoff Tournament.
• BU was swept by Grand Canyon in three games and split with Northern Colorado last weekend.
• The Braves will face Northern Colorado and New Mexico State before facing the Beavers Saturday morning.
• Bradley is part of the Missouri Valley Conference and finished the 2016 season 18-30 overall and 12-14 in the conference.
• Head coach for the Braves is Amy Hayes in her ninth season.
• The Beavers and Braves will meet for just the second time. The two first played each other in 2011 with OSU recording the win.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES
• New Mexico State enters the weekend 2-1 after starting the season with a three-game series against UTSA.
• The Aggies swept the opening day doubleheader, but fell in the series finale last weekend.
• NM State is part of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and finished the 2016 season 38-21 overall and 14-1 in the WAC.
• The Aggies are tabbed the favorites to win the WAC regular season.
• Sophomores Kelsey Horton, Victoria Castro and Kayla Green, along with junior Rachel Rodriguez were all named to the Preseason team. Horton was also named the Preseason Player of the Year.
• Sophomore Kelsey Horton was named the conference Hitter of the Week for her performance last weekend. She tallied a .667 batting average and hit three doubles, two home runs and had four RBI.
• Head coach for the Aggies is Kathy Rodolph in her 14th season.
• The Beavers and NM State will meet for the 18th time as OSU holds a 14-3 record with the last meeting a season ago.

SCOUTING THE VOLS
• Tennessee enters the weekend 5-0 after starting the season perfect at the Eagle Round Robin last weekend.
• The Vols defeated Tennessee Tech, Middle Tennessee, Georgia Southern and UNC Greensboro twice.
• Tennessee is ranked No. 14/15 in the polls and was ranked to start the year for the 14th consecutive season.
• UT was picked to finish fifth in the SEC after finishing in a tie for third last season.
• Senior Megan Geer was named to the USA Softball Collegiate POY Top 50 "Watch List" and Preseason All-SEC Team.
• Junior Meghan Gregg was named to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-American and Preseason All-SEC Team.
• Head coaches for the Vols are Karen Weekly (21st season) and Ralph Weekly (30th season).
• The Beavers and Vols will meet for the 10th time as Tennessee holds a 5-4 record. The teams last met in the 2014 season.

• The Beavers started the season 3-0 for the third straight season.
• Oregon State's best start through eight games, was a perfect start to the 2003 season, when be Beavers were 8-0.
•  The Beavers were 7-1 after eight games last season.
ROSTER BREAKDOWN
• OSU head coach Laura Berg welcomed 10 players that started a game and 12 letterwinners back from the 2016 season.
• The squad also welcomed seven newcomers to start their careers at Oregon State.
• The Beavers have 19 student-athletes on the roster, including six of seven players that appeared in 48 or more games last year.
• Of the 19 SA's on this year's roster, five started every game in 2016.
