Allison Foster Named Interim Head Women's Rowing Coach
February 10, 2017 | Women's Rowing
Allison Foster has been named the interim head women's rowing coach at Oregon State University. Â
Foster, a former Beaver rower, served as the assistant rowing coach at the University of North Carolina since September of 2015. Her professional career also includes a nearly three-year stint as the assistant men's rowing coach at the University of Puget Sound and as an undergraduate assistant coach at OSU.
A native of Bend, Ore., and graduate of Summit High School, Foster was a four-year member of OSU's rowing team from 2007-2011. She was voted the program's most inspirational athlete in 2011 and was selected to the U.S. Rowing Development Camp in 2010.
Foster is a certified US Rowing Level 2 Coach. She possesses a bachelor's degree in public health from OSU with a minor in nutrition.
She replaces Emily Ford, who completed her 10th season as head coach of women's rowing in 2016.
"We thank Emily for her 10 years of service with OSU women's rowing and wish her well in future endeavors," said Marianne Vydra, interim vice president and director of athletics.
Foster will start at Oregon State on Feb. 23 and will serve as interim coach through the end of the 2017 season. OSU Athletics will conduct a national search for a new head and assistant women's rowing coaches near season's end.
The OSU women's team continues preparations for the Longhorn Invite to be hosted on March 25 by the University of Texas in Austin.
