
Marshall, McLaughlin Pick Up All-Region Accolades

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State outside hitter Mary-Kate Marshall has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Pacific North All-Region team and setter Kylee McLaughlin has been voted as the Pacific North Region Freshman of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday.

For Marshall, a senior, the all-region selection is the third of her career, having also earned the distinction in 2014 and 2016. She is the first Oregon State player to be named First Team All-Region multiple times in her career.

The latest accolade adds to an impressive list of honors for Marshall. She was also selected to the Pac-12 All-Conference First Team after leading Oregon State to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in her career and fourth time in program history. Marshall led the Beavers and ranked third in the league with 4.34 kills per set.

Marshall, who is a kinesiology major, is a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award and is a candidate for CoSIDA Academic All-America after receiving Academic All-Region 8 last week. She was also a Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention selection.

The Coppell, Texas native finished her collegiate career as one of the most prolific attackers in Oregon State history, with 1,915 career kills – the second-most in school history. In 2017, Marshall recorded 525 kills, the sixth-most in OSU single season history, and 603.5 points overall, the third-most in a single season for an Oregon State player.

She also had a team-high 42 service aces, was fifth on the squad with 268 digs and was fourth with 58 total blocks.

McLaughlin, who hails from Carrollton, Texas, enjoyed a strong initial season in Corvallis. In addition to her pick as the region's Freshman of the Year, she also was named as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year last month. The biology major was also a Pac-12 honorable mention selection, was a member of the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and was a Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honoree three times.

The rookie directed a diverse Beavers' offense back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014 and finished the season ranked fourth in the Pac-12 with 10.69 assists per set.

She was fourth on the team with 312 digs, was fifth with 17 service aces and 57 total blocks
