Beavers Season Ends with Fourth NCAA Appearance

Beavers Make Fourth NCAA Appearance
• Oregon State was sent to Austin, Texas to face NC State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
• It was the fourth NCAA appearance in program history.
• The Beavers fell to the Wolfpack in five sets by scores of 18-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21, 13-15.
Leaving a Mark in the Record Books
• Oregon State hadn't had a five-match conference win streak since 1990 before achieving it in October with wins at UW, at WSU, and at home against Arizona, ASU and Utah. The Beavers repeated the feat in November with wins at Cal, at Arizona, at ASU, and at home against UW and WSU.
• In October, OSU swept the Washington schools for the first time since 1990 (10/13 & 10/15).
• The Beavers' defeat of the Huskies in Seattle was the first over UW since 2001.
• Oregon State went on to complete the season sweep of the Washington schools for the first time since 1984.
• OSU earned its first weekend sweep of Arizona and Arizona State since 1996 (10/18 & 10/20).
• Oregon State's victory over Arizona in Tucson was the in the desert since 1993 ... OSU went on to secure a weekend sweep in the Copper State also for the first time since 1993.
• The Beavers also completed the season sweep of the Arizona schools, going 4-0, for the first time since 1990.
Marshall Collects Honors
• Senior outside hitter Mary-Kate Marshall was named a Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American.
• She was also a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award.
• Named to the AVCA All-Region First Team
• Marshall earned Pac-12 All-Conference First Team for the third time in her career.
• Marshall became the first OSU player to be named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week three times in a season.
• MVP of the Beaver State Classic and North Harbour Marriott Invitational
• All-tournament selection at the North Texas Challenge and the Boise State Classic.
• CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.
Pac-12 Coach of the Year
• Mark Barnard was voted as the Pac-12 Coach of the Year. He is the first OSU coach to receive the award since Taras Liskevych in 2014. OSU's only other recipient was Guy Enriques in 1990 ... Barnard led the Beavers to a nine-win improvement from 2016.
Special Freshmen
• Setter Kylee McLaughlin was named as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. She is the second OSU player ever to receive the award joining Mary-Kate Marshall in 2014.
• McLaughlin secured the AVCA's Pacific North Region Freshman of the Year award.
• Maddie Goings and McLaughlin were also named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.
• McLaughline was named as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week three times ... Goings earned the honor once.
• Grace Massey was a two-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week recipient.
• Haylie Bennett was named to the all-tournament teams at the Beaver State Classic and North Harbour Marriott Invitational.
• Goings received all-tournament honors at the North Texas Challenge and the Boise State Classic.
• McLaughlin earned all-tournament accolades at teh North Harbour Marriott Invitational.
Zwerver to Hall of Fame
• Assistant coach Ron Zwerver, was announced as part of the 2017 International Volleyball Hall of Fame class in July. He missed the match against Washington to attend his induction ceremony in Holyoke, Mass. on Nov. 18. He returned in time to be on the sideline for the win over Washington State.

1 — Kylee McLaughlin is the only player in the Pac-12 Conference, and one of 32 in the nation, to record a triple-double in 2017 (49 assists, 11 digs, 10 blocks) at Portland.
2 — Mary-Kate Marshall finished her career with 1,915 kills, good for the second-most in OSU history to Rachel Rourke, who had 1,920 kills from 2006-09.
4 — OSU started four freshmen - Haylie Bennett (OPP), Maddie Goings (OH), Grace Massey (L) and Kylee McLaughlin (S).
4.54 — Grace Massey, who moved into the starting libero spot, has recorded 277 digs during that 15-match stint (61 sets). That's an average of 4.54 digs per set.
6 — Mary-Kate Marshall became the sixth player in OSU history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career.
7 — Kayla Ellis 384 digs in 2017 and now has 1,202 digs in her career. She ranks 7th on OSU's career list.
The Rankings
• Mary-Kate Marshall finished her career ranked fifth in kills among active players in Division I.
• Marshall was third in the conference and is 20th in the country with 4.34 kills per set.
• Marshall finished the season second in the Pac-12 and 18th in the nation with 4.99 points per set.
