Beavers Set to Race at Head of the Oklahoma

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State women's rowing team begins the 2016 fall season this Saturday at the OCU Head of the Oklahoma Regatta in Oklahoma City.

The Head of the Oklahoma features 2.5-mile head race in the afternoon and leads up to the 500-meter OGE NightSprints in the evening under lights along the race course.

The Beavers, who raced at the event for the first time ever in 2015, return to Oklahoma City with one crew, the Varsity 8, for its initial competition. OSU earned gold medal finishes in the women's collegiate 8 head race as well as in the 500-meter sprints.

COURSE: The 2.5 mile head race course takes place on the Oklahoma River near downtown Oklahoma City. Competitors race in a counter-clockwise pattern with the starting line at the west end of the basin.

RACE TIMES: OSU is slated to race twice on Saturday, with the Women's Collegiate 8 starting at 12:30 p.m. CT for the head race. The Beavers are back on the water in for the Women's College 8 500-meter NightSprints at 7:45 p.m. CT.
