CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State senior rower Jessica Stewart has received a pair of impressive honors.
Stewart recently earned an invitation to the Canadian Under-23 rowing team training camp where she will continue training in an effort to be part of the Canadian contingent that will compete at the World Rowing Under-23 Championships August 21-28 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Stewart added to her honors later this week when she was among the Region 5 honorees when the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced the 2016 Division I All-Region award winners.
The CRCA awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains from each of the five regions, organized into first and second-team selections.
For Stewart, from Victoria, B.C., the award is another feather in the cap of a fantastic four-year rowing career at Oregon State. She earned letters each of her four seasons at OSU earning a seat in the Varsity 8 each year.
Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team's regional finish, coaches recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their teams' varsity boat in 75 percent of races this season.
These athletes will be eligible for All-America awards selection following the NCAA Rowing Championships.
