June 13, 2016 | Baseball
SAN FRANCISCO – Outfielder Jack Anderson and right-handed pitcher Jake Thompson have been named to the Pac-12 Conference's All-Academic First Team, the league announced Monday.
Anderson and Thompson lead an Oregon State contingent of 11 student-athletes who have been named to either the first, second or honorable mention teams. The 11 is a school record, surpassing the program's six honorees in both 2007 and 2012.
That number is also second in the Pac-12, trailing only Stanford's 12.
Max Engelbrekt has been named to the second team, while Scotland Church, Christian Donahue, KJ Harrison, Luke Heimlich, Logan Ice, Billy King, Kyle Nobach and Drew Rasmussen have been named honorable mention.
To be eligible to be selected, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant contributor.
Anderson, a kinesiology major, has earned his first Pac-12 All-Academic honor and comes on the heels of a CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 honor for the redshirt sophomore. Thompson, meanwhile, has also earned his first Pac-12 academic honor, and is an economics major.
Engelbrekt finds himself on the second team, and is a finance major.
Ice and King are both repeat honorees after each was named to 2015's honorable mention squad.
