Travis Eckert faced one batter over the minimum and held USC to two hits and a run in a complete-game effort as the Beavers defeated the Trojans, 3-1, on Friday. Eckert was perfect through 6 2/3 innings and struck out five for his sixth win of the season.
Eckert's Night
• Travis Eckert's performance Friday night marked his longest career outing, surpassing his previous of 8 2/3 against Utah in 2015. It was also his first career complete game.
• The complete game was the first of the season by an Oregon State pitcher.
• The senior faced one batter over the minimum.
That's Pretty Rare
• USC did not leave a runner on base in the Beavers' 3-1 win Friday.
• It's the second time in as many seasons that an Oregon State pitcher accomplished the feat. Drew Rasmussen did it in his perfect game against Washington State in 2015.
• That feat has not been accomplished otherwise since at least 1999 (available records). Even in Jace Fry's and Josh Osich's no hitters at least one runner was left on base.
• Opponents have now left 344 on base this season, an average of seven per game. The Beavers have left on 395, an average of eight.
Against USC
• Oregon State has fond memories of Dedeaux Field despite losing the series to USC in the team's last meeting there in 2014.
• The Beavers' 2-0 win in the second game of the series clinched Oregon State's second consecutive Pac-12 Conference title.
• Oregon State has won six of the the last 10 meetings between the teams.
• The Beavers have never swept the Trojans in Los Angeles. USC remains the lone conference team the Beavers haver never swept on the road.
• Oregon State opened both the 2010 and 2012 series in Los Angeles with victories. The Beavers on the 2010 series but lost the 2012 three-gamer.
Singles
• Oregon State hit the 300-run mark in Friday's win. The Beavers have pushed across at least 300 runs in every season since 1996.
• The Beavers have now also recorded at least one every complete game for nine consecutive seasons.
