Singer’s Career Night Paces OSU To Series-Clinching Win At San Diego
March 14, 2026 | Baseball
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – AJ Singer hit a grand slam and a three-run home run, driving in eight runs, to send 18th-ranked Oregon State to an 11-5 win over San Diego Saturday night at Fowler Park.
Singer's eight RBI were one shot of equaling Ken Bowen's program-record nine in 1985 at Chico State.
The win pushed Oregon State (13-4 overall) to an eight-game win streak and the Beavers have clinched the series versus the Toreros (7-11). OSU has also now won 11 consecutive games against San Diego (7-11), improving to 16-10 all-time in the series.
Bryce Hubbard drove in the Beavers' first three runs of the game. He singled in a pair in the first, then was hit by the first pitch he saw with the bases loaded in the second. That set up Singer's first home run of the night, a grand slam to left on a 3-2 pitch that went 352 feet.
Singer picked up his fifth RBI – setting up a career-high – by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the third. It was one of 10 free bases via walks for Oregon State, which also advanced to first on five hit by pitches.
Singer, who came into the game with three RBI in the first 16 games, drove in his sixth, seventh and eighth runs of the game on a three-run blast to left in the seventh. This home run went 381 feet.
Oregon State recorded eight hits in the win, with Singer, Paul Vazquez and Easton Talt all recording two.
Ethan Kleinschmit started for the Beavers and worked five full in his fifth start of the season. He held San Diego to a run on six hits and a pair of walks while striking out nine. He got the win, improving to 2-2 on the season.
Kleinschmit's counterpart, Kyle Bade, did not last long. A lefty, he gave up four hits and six runs with three walks in 1 2/3 innings. He took the loss, dropping to 0-2 on the year.
Oregon State and San Diego conclude their three-game series Sunday at 1 p.m. PT. Catch the game live on the Beaver Sports Network and ESPN+.
