GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Oregon State redshirt junior Max Engelbrekt has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's Stopper of the Year midseason watch list, it was announced Thursday.
Given to the top relief pitcher in the country, the award, now in its 12th year, has 40 players on the watch list. Engelbrekt is one of four pitchers from the Pac-12 Conference on it.
The lefty is tied for the Pac-12 lead with 10 saves, and leads the Beavers with 19 appearances this season. He is 1-2 and has worked 25 innings, striking out 27 to 10 walks.
In three seasons on the hill, the Seattle native is 6-4 with a 2.48 earned run average in 58 appearances, all out of the bullpen. He has 16 saves, which ranks him fifth in OSU's history.
The Beavers return to Goss Stadium at Coleman Field Friday after eight straight games on the road. Oregon State welcomes Stanford for the start of a three-game series at 5:35 p.m. PT.
Limited tickets remain for Friday's and Sunday's games; Saturday's game is a sellout. For tickets, visit BeaverTickets.com or call 1-800-GOBEAVS.
