
Tovey 3rd at California Collegiate

San Francisco, Calif. – Oregon State redshirt junior Jay Tovey went 3-1 and placed third at 149 pounds on Sunday at the 40th annual California Collegiate open tournament at San Francisco State.
Tovey won his final three matches after an opening-round loss to place. He defeated Dylan Furtado of host SFSU 8-1 in the third-place match, capping a 3-0 run through the consolation bracket.
The Beavers (8-6, 2-2 Pac-12) resume action on Thursday with a 7 p.m. dual against No. 7 Oklahoma at Gill Coliseum. The Beavers host Air Force at 5 p.m. Sunday, then conclude the regular season with the Feb. 21 Border War against Boise State, also at Gill Coliseum.
