February 06, 2026 | Wrestling
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Oregon State wrestling team jumped out to an early lead but was unable to hold off an Arizona State rally in a 23-16 loss to the Sun Devils Friday night at Desert Financial Arena.
The Beavers won four of the first five bouts in a rematch of the former conference foes but Arizona State won the last five bouts – three with extra points – for the come-from-behind victory.
Gabe Whisenhunt picked up the Beavers' largest win of the night, a 12-3 decision over Carter Dibert, to give OSU a 10-0 lead before the Sun Devils' first points on a major decision victory by Pierson Manville at 141.
Noah Tolentino picked up his second straight win with a 4-1 victory over Benji Alanis at 149. CJ Hamblin then pushed the Oregon State lead to 16-4 when he won 3-1 at 157.
The Beavers opened the dual with six points just 12 seconds in. Maximo Renteria 17th win of the season came on a medical forfeit by Damian Moreno.
The Sun Devils scored the dual's last 19 points en route to the 7-point win.
