February 15, 2016 | Wrestling
Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State wrestling team returned to the Top 25 on Monday following a 2-0 week highlighted by a 22-12 victory over then-No. 7 Oklahoma at Gill Coliseum.
The Beavers (10-6) were tied with Pittsburgh for 24th in the USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll, released on Monday. OSU received 25 points in the voting and displaced Cal State-Bakersfield as the only Pacific-12 Conference team in the Top 25.
Arizona State and Bakersfield were the only other Pac-12 teams to receive votes. Penn State received all 12 first-place votes and remained No. 1, followed by Iowa, Oklahoma State, North Carolina State and Virginia Tech.
The Beavers are 2-3 against current Top-25 opponents, with wins over Oklahoma (10) and Central Michigan (19), and losses to Michigan (8), Nebraska (11) and Rutgers (13).
OSU completes the regular season at 11 a.m. Sunday against Boise State at Gill Coliseum in the annual Border War. Seth Thomas (165), OSU's lone senior, will be honored before the match.
The Beavers then head to the Pac-12 Championships, set for Feb. 27 at Arizona State. They are the four-time defending champions. Tickets for the championships are available at the ASU website.
