Beavers To Host Cardinals Wednesday Night

THE GAME: Oregon State (2-0) completes a three-game homestand when it hosts the Lamar Cardinals (1-0) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Gill Coliseum.

Under Tinkle, the Beavers are 30-5 when leading at halftime, 32-2 when leading with five minutes to play and 21-1 when outrebounding their opponent ... Oregon State was 13-0 last season with more or the same number of rebounds as their opponent; the Beavers have outrebounded both opponents this season ... Tres Tinkle was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week on Nov. 14 after starting the season with two double-doubles, while averaging 23.0 points and 13.5 rebounds ... The teams first played in the NCAA West Regional Second Round in Ogden, Utah on March 8, 1980 when No. 10-seed Lamar upset No. 2-seed Oregon State, 81-77. B.B. Davis and Mike Olliver each had 18 points to lead the Cardinals, while Steve Johnson scored 24 and Ray Blume added 22 for Oregon State.

The Beavers won the next two meetings, both at the Far West Classic in Portland. The first was a 76-61 victory on Dec. 28, 1982 when Charlie Sitton scored a team-high 20 points. The second was a 62-44 win on Dec. 28, 1987 when Bill Sherwood led the way with 18 points.

RECRUITING CLASS: The 2017 class includes Zach Reichle, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound guard from Wilsonville, Ore., and Ethan Thompson, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard from Los Angeles, Calif.

Reichle attends Wilsonville High School and is rated the No. 1 player in Oregon for the upcoming season and a three-star recruit by ESPN. Last season he was a unanimous selection for 5A State Player of the Year and won first team all-state honors when he led Wilsonville to the Oregon Class 5A state championship. He carries a 3.89 cumulative GPA at Wilsonville High School.

Thompson attends Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, Calif., where he is a consensus four-star recruit and ranked No. 51 in the ESPN 100, No. 49 by Rivals.com and No. 53 by Scout.com, making him the highest-rated player in program history. He was All State, first team All-CIF Open Division and helped lead his team to the semifinals of the Peach Jam at the Nike EYBL. He carries a 4.17 cumulative GPA at Bishop Montgomery High School.
