CORVALLIS, Ore. – Sophomore outside hitter Mary-Kate Marshall was selected to the 2015 Preseason All-Pac-12 Women's Volleyball Team, the league announced Tuesday. The team was chosen through a poll of league coaches.
Marshall posted one of the most decorated freshman campaigns in program history in 2014, highlighted by selections as 2014 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and AVCA Regional Freshman of the Year, as well as a third-team AVCA All-America selection.
Additionally, Marshall earned selections to the All-Pac-12 First Team and All-Pacific North Region Team, and rounded out her 2014 honors as a five-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
Statistically speaking, Marshall broke the freshman record for kills in 2014, racking up a total of 540 (4.22 per set), which also accounts for the fourth-highest single-season total by any player in school history. The Coppell, Texas native broke the freshman kills record on Nov. 13, 2014 in a matchup at Arizona State, tallying 28 to pass former All-American Rachel Rourke.
Among OSU volleyball players, Marshall ranked second last season in service aces (30), as well as third in digs (306).
Marshall and the Oregon State volleyball team will participate in the first event in Gill Coliseum for the fall of 2015 when the Beavers hold the Orange and Black Scrimmage on Friday, August 21 at 7 p.m. PT. The event is open to the public, and admission is free.
OSU kicks off its 2015 campaign on Friday, August 28 with a matchup against the Wichita State Shockers at 7 p.m. PT as part of a tournament in Honolulu. The Beavers will play their first home game on Thursday, September 24, when they open Pac-12 play with a 7 p.m. PT Civil War tilt versus the Oregon Ducks.
