A Look Back At The 2012 Senior Class
July 16, 2015 | Women's Volleyball
For our next installment of Alumni Updates we present the class of 2012. This class was a true example of student-athletes who excelled in both avenues. As a senior, Alyssa O'Neil earned her second career Pac-12 Conference All-Academic First Team honoree. Martie Massey also earned her second career academic honor in 2012 with a Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Second Team selection. Fellow seniors Camille Saxton and Megan McBride were named to the All-Academic Team honorable mention list.
On the court, each senior contributed to the overall success of the team in many ways. Camille Saxton led the team in 2012 with 414 Kills, averaging 3.6 kills a set – becoming an All-Pac-12 honoree. Megan McBride contributed to the offense with a team high .294 hitting percentage in her final year – and is one of the most respected left-handed attacking setters in Pac-12 history. Ashley Eneliko rounded out the attack with 197 Kills in 2012 and played in every front row position during her career at OSU. In the backcourt, the senior Beavers led a strong defensive effort with Alyssa O'Neil and Martie Massey racking up 262 and 197 digs respectively.
Here is a look into the happenings of our 2012 seniors, through the voice of Camille Saxton.
2012 OSU VOLLEYBALL ALUMNI
MEGAN MAGNUSON (MCBRIDE)
For the last two year Megan has been working in Social Services. Although she enjoyed it, she is now ready to move into a completely different direction. She will be starting a new position with the Industrial Sales Team for Stahlbush Island Farms in Corvallis. She is also a Beachbody coach and has found a new passion in helping friends and family with personal fitness and nutrition. She is also collaborating with a friend to create an outdoor summer fitness class for the community to help raise money for her church (The Grove Albany). Since playing volleyball at OSU Megan also married her best friend Aaron Magnuson back in August 2013 at a beautiful ceremony in her home state of Washington. She and Aaron are now living in Albany. Oregon with their three cats.
ALYSSA ROBECK (O'NEIL)
Post graduation Alyssa began working in Corvallis as a preschool teacher. She has found a lot of joy and passion in that for the past two years. As of June 2015, she will be returning to Oregon State University to complete a double degree to earn her teaching credentials and licensing for elementary education. She is really looking forward to getting back to school after two years of working with young kids in a field that she knows is right for her. Alyssa married Greg Robeck and this summer will be their one year wedding anniversary. They reside in Corvallis Oregon with their two adorable dogs, Gunnar and Lola.
MARTIE MASSEY
Martie is living in her hometown of Beaverton, Ore. She lives with her amazing family which consists of her parents and her three younger sisters. She is working primarily as an EMT for Metro West Ambulance and is really looking forward to more 911 training and patient care experience. She is beginning the application process for more schooling that will one day lead her to becoming and Physicians Assistant. She also spends her weekends working part time as a barista at Black Rock. For fun she still enjoys playing adult league volleyball and western dancing.
ASHLEY ENELIKO
Ashley is living in Corvallis, Oregon – she just couldn't leave the home of the Beavs. She started working at a women's shelter in her senior year as an internship and has since been hired on full time. She still plays volleyball in local adult leagues, probably devastating the men and women with the quickest tempo “1” sets they've ever seen. The Beavs cheering section up in Seattle hasn't been the same since Ashley graduated. We miss the rowdy 50+ family members dressed in Samoan costume, banging on their drums and dancing enthusiastically during our UW match.
CAMILLE SAXTON
Camille currently owns a home in British Columbia, Canada with her two brothers, Ben and Dustin. She has spent the last two years training to be a professional beach volleyball player. With that comes a lot of moving and traveling, so she has spent time living in California, Calgary, British Columbia, Winnipeg, and Toronto. Last summer (2014) she played in various pro tournaments throughout Canada including: Center of Gravity, Vancouver Open and OVA Grand Slam. This summer (2015) she will be heading to Monte Carlo, Monaco for a challenger event and has also qualified to represent Canada on the NORCECA tour which has stops in Cuba, St. Lucia, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United States (Florida). She has also been doing a lot of coaching both indoor and beach volleyball at various different ages and levels. Last fall she was the Volunteer Assistant coach at Simon Fraser University. When Camille has time at home she enjoys nothing more than spending time with family, her boyfriend Brendon Crudup, and her Husky Lenny.
