April 13, 2015 | Baseball
EUGENE, Ore. – Jeff Hendrix and Kyle Nobach each drove in two runs apiece and Oregon State jumped out to a 9-3 lead but could not hold on in a 10-9 loss Sunday afternoon at PK Park.
The game concluded the The Civil War presented by PacificSource Health Plans, The Oregon 529 College Savings Network, McDonalds, Spirit Mountain Casino and Your Local Ford Stores.
Hendrix went 3-for-4 with two doubles and Nobach singled twice in the loss. The Beavers (23-11 overall, 6-6 Pac-12 Conference) tallied 12 hits but so did the Ducks (21-16, 4-8), including the game-winning single in the eighth by Phil Craig-St. Louis.
The Beavers scored three in the second and pushed across six in the third to go up 9-3. Hendrix drove in two and Nobach and Elliott Cary also drove in runs during the six-run third.
But Oregon answered with a pair of three-run home runs – in the third by Brandon Cuddy and in the fourth by St. Louis.
Cary and Trever Morrison each finished with two hits as well.
Luke Heimlich took the loss to drop to 1-5 on the year. Coming on in the seventh to replace Kevin Flemer, he allowed one hit and one unearned run in 1 1/3 innings.
Josh Graham picked up the win to improve to 2-0 this season. He allowed two runs during the six-run third but managed to shut the Beavers out the rest of the way in working six innings.
Both starters retired just six batters apiece. Travis Eckert scattered seven hits and five runs while Conor Harber allowed six hits and seven runs.
The teams combined for 11 runs and 22 hits in the first two games of the series. On Sunday, they combined for 19 runs and 24 hits.
