CORVALLIS, Ore. – Sam Tweedt scattered three hits and a run in eight innings and Caleb Hamilton and Trever Morrison combined for five runs driven in in No. 24 Oregon State's 6-1 win over San Jose State Tuesday night at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

Tweedt, making his third start of the season, retired 15 straight through the middle innings and struck out four before giving way to John Pomeroy in the ninth inning. Tweedt improved to 4-0 this season after earning the victory.

He lowered his earned run average to 2.28 and Tweedt's batting average against is now .181. He has struck out 21 to just seven walks in 23 2/3 innings this season.

Kyle Nobach and Michael Gretler each tallied two hits to pace the Beavers, who won their fourth consecutive game to improve to 19-5 in 2015. San Jose State, meanwhile, dropped to 7-17.

Morrison began the game's scoring with a sacrifice fly to right in the first, allowing Jeff Hendrix to score from third. Hendrix had opened OSU's offensive day with a triple to right center.

The Beavers scored their second run on a double steal in the second. Then, after a solo run by the Spartans in the third, opened the game up with four runs in the fourth. Caleb Hamilton singled home two to make it 4-1 in favor of the Beavers. A few batters later, Morrison reached on a fielder's choice in which the Beavers scored twice, making it 6-1.

San Jose State starter Kalei Contrades worked an inning in a short outing, but Morrison's sac fly in the first put him on the hook for the loss. He dropped to 2-4 this season.
