CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State volleyball team and head coach Taras Liskevych announced the addition of junior college setter Sam Rouleau to the 2016 recruiting class on Friday.
Rouleau, who is among the most decorated two-year college setters in the nation, will be eligible to compete immediately for the Beavers this coming 2016 season.
“We look forward to adding Sam to our roster in January,” Oregon State head coach Taras Liskevych said. “We've had an eye on Sam for a while because she's a local product, has very good setting skills and is a very good competitor. She'll be right there vying for a starting setter position. We look forward to her future here with the Beavers.”
Most recently, Rouleau played setter at Linn-Benton Community College, and was recently selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as a 2015 First-Team Two-Year College All-American. As a freshman, Rouleau was an all-league honorable mention, and was chosen to the first team as a sophomore. Rouleau also has a Northewst Athletic Conference all-tournament selection to her credit, and was selected setter of the week by her league three times as well as by the NWAC two times.
According to the NWAC, Rouleau led the Roadrunners with 434 assists and as well as an average of 10.33 assists per set in 12 conference matches. She also posted 14 service aces (0.33 per set), and ranked second on the team with 110 digs (2.62 per set) against conference foes.
Before her time at LBCC, Rouleau competed at Sheldon High School, where she was a four-time all-league selection, earning an honorable mention as a freshman, second-team honors in her sophomore and junior seasons and a first-team selection as a senior. Rouleau was a two-year captain for Sheldon, and as a senior, was voted first-team all-state and league most valuable player.
While at Sheldon, Rouleau also competed in golf, winning the state championship in her senior season.
