December 01, 2015 | Women's Basketball
CORVALLIS – The Oregon State women's basketball team is the consensus No. 7 team in the nation this week, coming in seventh in both Monday's Associated Press Poll and this morning's USA Today/WBCA Coaches' Poll. The ranking matches the highest in school history.
The Beavers have gotten off to a 5-0 starts, including a pair of wins at the San Juan Shootout last week. Oregon State beat previously undefeated Hofstra on Friday, shooting 54.0 percent from the field and holding a +22 rebound advantage. Junior Sydney Wiese led the Beavers with 18 points in the contest, shooting 7-for-8 from the field. OSU followed that up by topping SEC foe Arkansas on Saturday behind 26 points from senior Jamie Weisner. Fellow senior Ruth Hamblin tallied 16 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks in the contest.
The Beavers lead the nation in rebound margin at +22.6 and are third in the NCAA in field goal percentage (53.1).
Oregon State hits the road this week to take on Marquette on Thursday in a game that will air live on Fox Sports 1.
