CORVALLIS, Ore. - Dylan Davis' groundout in the seventh proved to be the game-winner as the Oregon State baseball team opened a three-game series with a 5-3 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Friday night at Goss Stadium.
Davis capped off the Beavers' two-run inning to overcome the Golden Lions' one-run lead entering the bottom half of the inning. Ryan Dunn drove in the first run on a double to left center, scoring Michael Conforto, who had walked to open the inning.
Davis grounded out to third with one out for the game-winning RBI.
The runs pushed the Beavers (21-11 overall) past Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which took a 3-2 lead in the sixth. Cornelius Williams, Christian Weeber and Jacob Whitney all drove in solo runs during the frame.
All three runs were unearned and charged to Oregon State starter Ben Wetzler, who did not get the decision after working 6 1/3 innings. He allowed five hits with three strikeouts.
