Softball Falls to No. 19 Oregon in Series Finale

EUGENE - The Oregon State softball team fell to No. 19 Oregon Saturday afternoon by a final score of 8-1 in front of 687 at Howe Field in Eugene, Ore.
Senior Audrey Roderfeld provided the only run for the Beavers (18-19 overall, 1-11 Pacific-10 Conference) with a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning. It is her fourth career home run against Oregon, hitting one in each her seasons at Oregon State.
Erin Guzy singled to right field with two outs in the top of the first for the first of her two hits in the game. She then stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the Oregon catcher. Hall walked to get runners on the corners and two outs for the Beavers in the top of the first before Desiree Beltran flew out to end the inning.
Guzy finished the day going 2-for 4 with two singles and is now 7-for-12 with three doubles during the series hitting safely in all three games.
Oregon (33-11, 5-7) hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-0 lead. After a walk to the next batter Oregon State starting pitcher Marina Demore was pulled after getting just two outs. Tina Andreana came into pitch for the Beavers and got a ground out on the first pitch she threw to end the inning.
Andreana threw 5.1 innings allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits while walking four and striking out two.
Oregon added two runs in the bottom of the third on a two-run double to center with runners on the corners before getting its third home run of the game to take a 6-0 lead in the fifth inning.
Oregon State got its lone run of the game on the Roderfeld solo home run over the left field fence. It was her second of the season. The home run made the score 6-1 going to the bottom of the sixth inning.
Oregon added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the 8-1 victory. Jessica Moore improves to 17-6 with the win while Marina Demore falls to 7-6 with the loss.
Oregon State will be back at home Monday afternoon for a doubleheader against North Dakota with the first game slated to start at 1 p.m. at the OSU Softball Complex.
