Beavers Fall to No. 11 Cardinal, 8-1

STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Paige Hall homered in the game but the Beavers fell to the No. 11 Stanford Cardinal Saturday afternoon at Smith Family Stadium by a final score of 8-1.
Stanford took an early 3-0 lead after the first inning on four hits and four stolen bases. They added another run in the second to take a 4-0 lead after two innings.
After both teams went scoreless in the third, the Beavers got on the board thanks to Hall's sixth home run of the season. Hall started in the circle for the Beavers and gave up four runs in the first two innings but then settled down and threw three scoreless innings.
The Cardinal added four unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth on a bases loaded hit by pitch and two singles to take an 8-1 lead going to the top of the seventh inning.
Lea Cavestany doubled to center field on the first pitch of the game and ended the game going 2-for-4. Hall picked up two hits in the game going 2-for-3 with a home run.
Hall threw a complete game in the circle going six innings giving up eight runs, only four were earned, on 12 hits. She walked two and struck out four in the game. She falls to 6-4 with the loss while Cardinal starter Ashley Chinn improved to 14-2 on the season and Teagan Gerhart recorded her second save.
The Beavers will face the Cardinal again on Sunday in the final game of the three-game set with first pitch slated for 12 p.m.
