Beavers Fall to No. 11 Stanford in Series Opener

STANFORD, Calif. - The Oregon State softball team fell to No. 11 Stanford Friday night at Smith Family Stadium by a score of 7-0.
The Cardinal (28-8 overall, 3-4 Pacific-10 Conference) got on the board with a run in the first inning. They added another run in the second on a solo home run and three more in the third to take a 4-0 lead through three innings.
Tina Andreana started in the circle for the Beavers (18-14, 1-6) and went 2.1 innings and gave up the first five runs of the game, all earned, on five Cardinal hits. She walked four and struck out one batter.
The Cardinal added an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth on a throwing error which allowed the runner to score from third after tagging up and moving to third on a fly ball to center field. It added one more run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-0 lead.
Audrey Roderfeld supplied the Beavers with one of their two hits with a single to left field in the top of the second inning. She finished the game 1-for-2. Erin Guzy added the other hit in the top of the seventh with a single to left.
Marina Demore pitched in relief for the Beavers and went 3.2 innings and gave up two runs, one earned, she walked seven and struck out four. Starter Andreana falls to 5-6 with the loss while Cardinal starter Teagan Gerhart improves to 15-6 with the win.
