Softball Stays Perfect with Wins over North Texas and Bradley

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Oregon State softball team remains perfect on the 2011 season with a 3-2 victory over North Texas and an 8-6 victory over Bradley University Saturday.
Game 1 - Oregon State 3, North Texas 2
Marina Demore recorded her second win of the season going the distance against North Texas allowing four this and two earned runs, her first of the season. He also walked three and recorded three strikeouts.
The Beavers tallied eight hits in the game accounting for their three runs. Ally Kutz went 2-for-3 on the day while Desiree Beltran continues to be productive at the plate going 1-for-3 in the game with one RBI.
Oregon State scored one run in the second before allowing its first runs of the season in the fifth inning when North Texas put two on the board. Oregon State then countered in the top of the sixth with a run to draw the game even at 2-2 going into the final inning.
It was Mary Claire Brenner's game winning RBI hit in the top half of the seventh inning that game the Beavers the final advantage and their third win of the season.
Game 2 - Oregon State 8, Bradley 6
Oregon State fell behind quickly in its second game of the day when Bradley scored four runs in the first inning off of starting pitcher Paige Hall.
The Beavers rallied in the third inning scoring six runs. Hannah Bouska led off the inning by being hit with a pitch and then was driven home by Lea Cavestany's first home run of the 2011 season. The Beavers then added four more runs in the inning. In the third inning alone, Oregon State tallied seven hits.
Oregon State added another run in the fifth inning giving them the 7-4 advantage going into the sixth inning. Both teams scored a run in the sixth inning making the score 8-5. Bradley added a final run in the seventh inning but was unable to come all the way back as the Beavers closed out the game for their fourth win of the season.
Oregon State amassed 14 hits in the game that lasted 2:50 minutes. Cavestany went 2-for-5 in the game with a run scored, a double and the two run home run in the third inning.
Erin Guzy was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI while Brenner went 2-for-4 in the second game with two doubles and two RBI.
Oregon State will conclude action at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. Sunday when they face the Cornhuskers of Nebraska. Live stats and a free audio feed can be found at Huskers.com.
