
UPDATED: Hall is Perfect in Beavers win over Western Michigan

TEMPE, Ariz. - Junior pitcher Paige Hall threw a perfect game as the Oregon State softball team takes down Western Michigan, 8-0 in six innings Friday afternoon at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz.
"I'm really proud of Paige's presence on the mound and her command of her pitches," Oregon State softball head coach Kirk Walker said following the perfect game. "Our defense played stellar today and we had good production on the offensive side."
Hall pitched six perfect innings to become the first Oregon State pitcher to throw a perfect game and the first to do it since Monica Hoffman shut down Hawai'i in 2002.
Hall and fellow pitcher Marina Demore have combined for two wins, 11 innings pitched, 14 strikeouts, one walk and no hits to in the first two games of the 2011 season.
Oregon State scored twice in the bottom half of the first when Desiree Beltran singled with two outs scoring Lea Cavestany and Erin Guzy who had both reached base via walks.
Ally Kutz started the bottom half of the second with a double and was moved over to third base on a Nikki Chandler sacrifice bunt. Maggie Doremus drove in Kutz from third on a single hitting. Cavestany doubled moving Doremus to third base who then scored on a McKenna Lowe sacrifice fly to left field giving the Beavers a 4-0 lead through two innings.
Guzy doubled in Cavestany in the fourth and Kutz singled in Beltran in the fifth inning to extend the Oregon State lead to 6-0 through five innings.
Beltran ended the game in the sixth driving in Hannah Bouska, pinch running for Guzy who had walked, and Hall with a two RBI single with two outs to give the Beavers the final 8-0 lead.
Oregon State scored four runs in Friday's game with two outs. It is 8-for-18 (.444) this season with two outs including eight RBI.
Beltran 4-for-4 so far on the season with four RBI and three walks. She is 3-for-3 with four RBI with two outs this season and has reached base in every at bat this season.
Oregon State hits the field again Saturday for a double-header with North Texas and Bradley University with games starting at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.
