Beavers Post Second Top-Five Finish Of Fall Season

Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational Final Results 
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's golf team posted its second consecutive top-five finish to start its fall season after finishing fifth at the 30th Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Sammamish, Wash., on Wednesday.
The Beavers shot a 21-over 309 in Wednesday's final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament to finish with a 56-over 298-313-309--920 and make it back-to-back top-five finishes after finishing fifth at the Cougar Cup in Pullman, Wash., two weeks ago.
The talent and strength of the Pac-12 was shown in the Edean Ihlanfeldt with five conference teams -- Colorado, Oregon, Washington, California and Oregon State -- finishing in the top-five among the 12-team field.
"Today the weather was quite a bit worse and I felt like we could have definitely been better today, but we also dealt with some things that we didn't the last two days," Oregon State head coach Risë Alexander said. "If our score was one or two shots better, it would not have made a difference with our finish. It's a learning experience that will help us grow and get better as the season continues."
All five Oregon State golfers shot in the 70's on Wednesday at the par-72, 6,063-yard Sahalee Country Club with sophomores Seshia Telles and Lauren Sewell firing a 77 and senior Whitney French and freshmen Anica Yoo and Bethany Wurster all posting a 78.
Telles and Yoo both finished tied for 12th individually with a 12-over 228, while sophomore Lauren Sewell finished tied for 21st with a 13-over 229 and French was tied for 37th with a 21-over 237.
"Anica and Seshia both tied for 12th and I anticipated that we were going to have several people place in the top 15," Alexander said. "Seshia played consistently today. She isn't one of our longest hitters but she is definitely one of our best short game players. I knew Anica was going to add some depth to our lineup. She just turned 18 on Saturday and she has a lot of good experience but not at this level yet. She is a great girl with a lot of confidence and I anticipated she will do very well for us."
The Beavers return to action Oct. 14-16 at the Stanford Intercollegiate in Stanford, Calif.
