Corvallis, Ore. – Junior Megan McBride (Auburn, Wash.) tallied a double-double with 11 kills and 11 assists, but it wasn't enough as the Oregon State volleyball team (11-10, 3-8 Pac-12) fell in three (14-25, 21-25, 18-25) to No. 7 Washington (16-3, 8-3 Pac-12) on Friday evening.
“We did a new wrinkle of Megan [McBride] hitting in the front row and Tayla [Woods] setting in the back row,” head coach Taras Liskevych said. “That was a positive. Megan hit the ball well, and that maybe gives us some options for the future. She had a very good match, she not only set but hit some good numbers.”
Senior Dre Shaw (Wailuku, Hawai'i) added nine kills, leading the team in efficiency, while redshirt freshman Tayla Woods (Corvallis, Ore.) split setter duties with McBride, earning 16 assists.
Defensively, sophomore Becky Defoe (Bend, Ore.) dug a match-high 24 balls with three Oregon State blockers – junior Ashley Eneliko (Seattle, Wash.), freshman Arica Nassar (Menifee, Calif.) and sophomore Niki Small (Ashland, Ore.) – each tallying a pair of stops at the net each.
Washington's Krista Vansant recorded a double-double for the Huskies with 12 kills and 12 digs, while libero Jenna Orlandini had a team-high 18 digs.
Oregon State hosts Washington State next on Saturday in Gill Coliseum at 7:00 p.m.
Oregon State Notes – Junior Megan McBride earned her sixth double-double of the season, 11th career with 11 kills and 11 assists.
