Women's Basketball Falls at No. 10 UCLA

Los Angeles, Calif. – The Oregon State women's basketball team shot a season-high 50 percent from the field but fell at No. 10 UCLA, 46-58, Thursday evening in Pauley Pavilion.
Redshirt sophomore Sage Indendi (Livingston, Mont.) led the Beavers with 13 points, five assists and three steals with freshman Alyssa Martin (Portland, Ore.) adding 10. Senior El Sara Greer (Waterloo, Iowa) led the rebounding efforts with five, adding five blocks.
After winning the opening tip, junior Earlysia Marchbanks (Salem, Ore) quickly put Oregon State on the board with a reverse layup just 11 seconds into the game. But UCLA strung together a 6-0 run heading into the first media timeout.
Martin scored the next pair of points for the Beavers on a backdoor cut coming out of the break to cut the Bruins' lead to two at 4-6, but UCLA continued to put points on the board to lead by as many as 15 with Oregon State unable to answer offensively.
But coming out of the final media timeout of the half, Oregon State found an offensive spark, going on a 10-4 run to close out the half led by Indendi's seven points to make it 23-30 at the half.
UCLA scored the first 11 points of the second half to build its lead to 18 at the 41-23 mark, the biggest lead of the night. But then Oregon State once again answered back in a small run of its own, outscoring UCLA 12-2 in the ensuing three minutes of play to make it only a eight-point ball game at 35-43.
Oregon State held UCLA without a field goal for over three and a half minutes, never allowing the Bruins to build their lead to any more than 10 points heading into the third media timeout with 7:58 left in the game.
Martin hit another three-pointer to make it 46-54 with just over two minutes remaining to keep it an eight-point game despite UCLA attempts to run away with the lead. But with 37 seconds left, a three-point play left the game with a 12-point margin in favor of the Bruins.
The Bruins' Darxia Morris led all scorers with 16 points, while Jasmine Dixon earned a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Oregon State shot a season-best 50.0 percent (17-34) from the field to UCLA's 48.0 percent (24-50), while the Beavers shot 77.8 percent (7-9) from the free throw line to UCLA's 56.3 percent (9-16).

· Oregon State's 50.0 percent field goal shooting is a new season best, resetting 47.1 at Arizona on Jan. 2.
· Oregon State's 77.8 percent free throw shooting is a season-high, resetting the 72.7 percent against Cal State Bakersfield on Nov. 30.
