DEXTER, Ore. – The Oregon State women's rowing team, despite a five-hour delay due to rough water and heavy winds, came out strong, winning four-of-five races against Gonzaga on Saturday.
While battling the weather the novice 8+ “A” crew delivered an impressive performance, beating the Bulldogs by a margin of 6.7-seconds. The second varsity 8+ also won with a 5.46-second victory. The varsity 8+ fell behind early and never recovered, finishing just over three seconds off the pace.
The varsity 4+ and second varsity 4+ also came away with victories.
The Beavers will take the next two weeks to prepare for the Pac-10 Challenge on April 3-4. Oregon State travels to Redwood Shores, Calif. to take on competitors in one of the most anticipated rowing events on the west coast.
