OREGON STATE JUNIOR GUARD Seth Tarver
On the emotion after the game...
"It's exciting. We're in the championship. We know what we're capable of. We know that we can play well. We feel like we've been getting better all season and we're just playing well at the right time."
SENIOR GUARD Rickey Claitt
On letdown and getting behind in overtime...
"It was a long rebound and he [Stanford forward Lawrence Hill] got it and threw it up. It took some of our momentum but when we were sitting down coach [OSU head coach Craig Robinson] said, `don't worry about it. We have another five minutes.'"
On familiarity with Stanford and taking it to the rim...
"That's what we've been doing all year. Coach [Craig Robinson] preaches to us that when we make shots people are going to be up on us. And like you saw at the end Seth [Tarver] was wide open for the back door layup right at the very end of overtime because they were overplaying and expecting us to shoot threes."
On nothing being bothered by anything...
"It's just preparation in practice. We play games all the time in practice with people hitting shots to put them in to sudden death, what we call it in practice. Being prepared for it in the game and not having to worry about it when someone makes a shot because that's part of basketball. People are going to make plays and it's not about what plays they make but about how you adjust to the plays that they make. I think we did a great job as a team to when they made big shots or runs countering it with our own runs."
On still playing...
"That's phenomenal for us and for this program going into next year. If you think about all the good teams in this conference that went to the NCAA tournament, they're home now watching the NCAA tournament or the NIT on TV and us and Arizona are the only teams still playing. It really does feel good opposed to last year, how badly we did, this year we're still playing."
STANFORD HEAD COACH JOHNNY DAWKINS
On the end of the season...
"A lot of these guys played for Trent, and now they are playing for me. They were amazing. They gave everything they had. They changed systems, changed styles, defense and offense. Those kids have been remarkable, and I wanted to share that with the younger guys from the standpoint that they have set an amazing example about what Stanford is all about. The kind of effort; the kind of enthusiasm and to be good at everything they do. We shared those moments. They were great. We cried together and we shared an amazing moment, and that's what it should be like. You should end the season laughing, or you should end the season crying."
On the transition over the season...
"A lot of the credit goes to the kids. That's what I mean when I say how resilient they were because they bounced back. We had some tough times during the stretch of Pac-10 play, but our kids never wavered and they never quit. They were able to rebound from that and were very competitive in every game. I am really proud of that. It really shows the type of character of the kids."
