OREGON STATE HEAD COACH Craig Robinson
On 25-6 lead...
"Uncharted territory. It's funny that every time something good happens it's like it never happened before. It's really nice to be able to talk about all of these things that haven't happened in awhile. You cannot put a price on how wonderful it feels and how great those guys in the locker room feel."
When up so quickly, a tendency to look at the clock after awhile...
"Yes, it's not only a tendency. Again, we don't get these opportunities very much. One of our goals this week was to try and play at home like we do on the road. We have seemed to be better on the road than at home. That is just the pressure of wanting to do well in front of the fans, the fellow classmates and administration. It is pressure. I was really proud of the guys. They made big shots, big plays, and great defense and made free throws when they needed to. This is another feather we can put in our cap and now we know we can do and do it more often."
On the press...
"They did a couple of things they did not do the last time. They put the press on us. At first I think we reacted a little too panicky, but then we calmed down. It has been awhile since we have been pressed. Even though we know what to do against it, it caught us off guard."
On Roeland Schaftenaar...
"It is more than pleasant to watch that kid have some success. He deserves every bit of it. He works hard and is the same kid all the time. Most of all he is helping us win games. It is a treat to be a part of his evolution."
OREGON STATE JUNIOR Roeland Schaftenaar
On early made shots...
"It obviously feels good when your first couple shots go in but you got to just try to stay aggressive and work harder."
What does this win mean to you...
"We are 6-8 now and that was a big win. Every win is a big win. We've been playing well. We won both games against them and we are trying to get another win on Saturday."
On defense...
"Obviously, we were playing well. The key for us was getting stops. We played great defense and they only scored 17 in the first half and that was key for us. We scored even more points in the second half, but we were able to stop them in the first half and that is why we had the lead. We were making shots, but defense was the most important thing for us."
OREGON STATE SOPHOMORE Calvin Haynes
On the second half...
"I don't think it was hanging on, we took a lot of good shots. In the second half, they had a good shooting performance, but other than that we had our own. We won this game on the defensive end."
On Stanford's press...
"I want to say at first it slowed us down, but it didn't really hurt us. We haven't seen a press in awhile, so sometimes it takes a little getting used to. It was a good effort by them, but we came out with the victory."
Overall...
"Our main goal is to keep winning games. Anything is possible for us and we need to keep winning. These wins are letting people know who we are. It was a big statement for us. What can we say, we work hard."
STANFORD HEAD COACH JOHNNY DAWKINS
On adjustments made in the second half...
"We started the game out slow. We should give them a lot of credit, they played well. They got out to a really fast start in the game, I think they made seven out of their first ten shots. That allowed them to set up defensively and I think initially we turned the ball over way too much in the first half. They do a good job, they move well, they are disruptive, and they're playing with a lot of confidence."
On Jeremy Green in the second half...
"Jeremy is very capable. He can shoot the basketball and he got it going. He's developing and is going to continue to get better over time as he learns the system. I was proud to see him step up. We needed someone to step up and I think he did."
On Roeland Schaftenaar's play in the game...
"For one, he's good. He's a good player. I think he's one of the most underrated players in our conference to be quite frank. You never hear about him but he's very efficient. He passes well, I think he leads them in assists; he could probably be their leading scorer if he wanted to be aggressive down there. He's a very good player."
On general feeling of the game...
"I don't think we played well. I think the tone was set in the first five or six minutes of the ballgame. I thought they established a dominant position at that point. We were fighting uphill the rest of the way. I thought we showed moments of being able to climb up the hill but when you dig a big hole, it becomes difficult. We had to fight to play catch up."
