CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Oregon State volleyball team hit .395 en route to a 3-0 sweep over Campbell in the SpringHill Suites Charlotte Classic on Saturday morning. Game scores were 30-18, 30-15, 30-16.
The victory improved OSU's record to 8-2, already matching the number of wins the Beavers had a year ago. Campbell, which has yet to win a game this year, dropped to 0-8.
"This was a good match for us to find our rhthym. We did what we needed to do and took care of business," coach Nancy Somera said. "A lot of our bench reserves got the opportunity to play, and hopefully that will pay off down the road and get them comfortable as they come off the bench."
No Beavers reached double-figures in the kills column, but it wasn't needed. Allison Lawrence led the team with nine kills on .353 hitting, and a pair of freshmen turned in eight kills apiece. Brittany Cahoon hit .462 with eight kills, and Abby Windell, making her first collegiate start, hit .400 with a career-high eight kills. No Campbell players had more than six kills.
Karah Rhoades was the only player from either team to finish with double-figures in digs, as she led the Beavers with 12. Windell picked up a career-high eight digs, and Lawrence and Katelyn Healy had five apiece.
The Beavers capitalized on strong serving as well, tying their season-high with 15 aces. Rhoades served a career-high six aces, while Lawrence extended her streak to eight matches with at least one ace upon serving four against the Camels.
OSU wraps up the weekend with a match against the host Charlotte 49ers at 4:30 p.m. PDT.
