PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Brian Jackson led a balanced attack with 14 points and Oregon State used a huge rebounding advantage to beat Portland 71-64 on Saturday.
The Beavers (3-1) outrebounded the Pilots 42-19 and also used their size to hold a 36-16 edge in free throw attempts.
Jimmie Haywood, Floyd North and Derek Potter all added 11 points for the Beavers.
Portland (3-2), which lost to Oregon earlier in the week, was led by Eugene Jeter's 20 points - 15 above his season average.
Led by Jackson, Oregon State went on a 20-5 run after halftime to take a 53-34 lead.
The Pilots never really threatened, only narrowing the lead to single digits in the last minute. Oregon State scored its last 13 points from the line to clinch the win.
Portland's leading scorer, Casey Frandsen, was held scoreless on 0-for-5 shooting. After averaging nearly 20 points in his first three games, Frandsen has been held to a total of six points against Oregon and Oregon State.
